Behind the Mic: People, Process, and the Reality of Scaling
This week has been a whirlwind of red lights and rolling tape. Nick Clift and I have spent the last few days locked in recording mode for MSP Mastery: Ctrl-Alt-Deliver, and the energy in the studio was electric. We decided to shake things up this time around. While we usually spend our time digging into the stories of guest experts, we kicked off the week with a series of three solo episodes featuring just the two of us. It was a refreshing change of pace and a chance to move from the interviewer’s chair into the thick of raw experience. We drew on years of building, scaling, and exiting businesses to dissect the frameworks that actually move the needle across different countries and industries.

The Three Pillars of Performance
We went deep into the three areas where we see the most friction when a business is trying to grow. When you transition from operating a business to helping others lead theirs, you realize that everything eventually circles back to these core elements.
First, we explored People and how to build high-performing teams that do not just follow orders but actively drive the mission forward. Next, we looked at Process and the structural frameworks required to create clarity and accountability so the business is not reliant on a single individual. Finally, we discussed the Mindset of a Leader and the internal shift required to stop doing and start leading, ensuring the vision remains clear even in the chaos of scaling.
Expert Deep Dives
To round out the week, we welcomed back two familiar faces: Vivienne Winborne and Nicky Miklós. During their first appearances, the time flew by so fast we barely scratched the surface of their expertise. This time, we went much deeper into the two biggest drivers of sustainable growth: Marketing and Sales.
Both Viv and Nicky are seasoned pros who understand the unique hurdles MSP owners face. Their insights are grounded in reality with no fluff or theory, just practical strategies that work. A massive thank you goes to both for coming back to share more of their wisdom with our audience.
From Conversation to High Calibre Insights
Recording the content is just the beginning. These episodes are now with our producers being refined into professional resources that leadership teams can use to improve their operations. It is one thing to chat behind a mic; it is another to deliver a resource that empowers business owners to take real action.
On a lighter note, recording is not always serious. There is a photo floating around of Nicky and Nick making fun of me while I was trying and failing to stay professional while reading the podcast opening script. It is safe to say they are having way too much fun at my expense!
Stay tuned for these upcoming episodes on the MSP Mastery: Ctrl-Alt-Deliver Podcast.
